Silas Inoue is born 1981 in Copenhagen, where he currently lives and works. He is a graduate MA, Visual Communication from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in 2010. 2008-2009 he studied at Jan Matejki, Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow Pl, and as a scholarship student at Osaka Seikei University, Faculty of Art and Design, Osaka JPN in 2007-2008.
Inoue works with a wide array of themes, often related to the fast paced life of postmodernity, such as globalization, tourism, digitalization, economy, and consumption. On the other hand he touches upon different kinds of spirituality, or draws inspiration from the animal kingdom, or nature in general. This diverse field of interests is visualized in pictorial, sculptural and performative works, in which Inoue transforms prevailing values and tendencies into abstraction, and symbolism that often seems to devaluate dominant values.
Inoue has a background in both Japan and Denmark; this mixed heritage is sometime reflected in his art, though it most often appears as a subtle sense of manifold belongings.
