In The Order of Things Johanne Skovbo Lasgaard leads us into her exhibition of physical gestalts in space that invite us to perceive. Her sculptural objects and installations are often based around a basic theme: light – heavy. Where the materials speak for themselves: tactility – sensibility – the liquid. With Johanne Skovbo Lasgaard the narrative lies within the many different materials she works with, resulting in an experimental work of nature of for example plaster, wax, iron and pigment on oil saturated paper. Through the physical experience Skovbo Lasgaard maintains a constancy in her practice arising from a focus on the procedural and substantive examination. Thus the surfaces often seem fragile and porous as if they are in a constant poetic and bodily process.
Johanne Skovbo Lasgaard is a newly graduate from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2013. It is with great pleasure that Marie Kirkegaard welcome you to her first solo exhibition in the gallery.
