About the artist

Lars Grenaae (b. 1965, Denmark) is educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. He also learnt the craft of fine-art printmaking as an apprentice with the serigrapher Jørgen Hansen.

Since his graduation in 1998 he has taught at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and is currently holding an associate professorship as the head The Laboratory of Serigraphy and Risography.

As a practicing artist, Grenaae has been featured in many exhibitions in Denmark and abroad.  His own practice focuses on painting, printmaking and on books as art objects. His work often draws from the simple language of popart and popular culture, but with Grenaae it is always fragmented and layered. A new hybrid expression arises in Grenaae’s works, where the classical graphics is forced together with the digital and the pictoresque. He holds the ability to balance between the formal and unrestrained – combining the  the graphical and the painterly qualities.
